DESCRIPTION:Skopje\, North Macedonia\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom the organisers:  \n\n\n\nIn March 2020\, North Macedonia acceded to NATO\, becoming the 30th member state and accession process to join the European Union remains ongoing. \n\n\n\nRanked as the fourth “best reformatory state” out of 178 countries ranked by the World Bank in 2009\, North Macedonia has undergone considerable economic reform since independence. North Macedonia has witnessed steady\, though slow\, economic growth and has implemented policies focused on attracting foreign investment and promoting the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). \n\n\n\nThe country has a rich and diverse history and Skopje\, the capital has been inhabited since at least 4000 BC; remains of Neolithic settlements have been found within the old Kale Fortress that overlooks the vibrant modern city centre. \n\n\n\nBy virtue of its position North Macedonia sits on the Balkan route for illegal migration into the European Union and therefore faces border challenges that require a collective\, collaborative\, and holistic response\, making it the ideal place for the next meeting of the World Border Security Congress. \n\n\n\nYou are invited to join us in Skopje\, North Macedonia for the 2023 World Border Security Congress\, co-hosted by the Ministry of Interior and Border Police of North Macedonia\, on the 25th-27th April 2023\, for the next annual gathering of the international border security\, protection & management community. \n\n\n\n\nVisit Event Website
